Who they are
Stella Maris, long known as the Apostleship of the Sea, is the Catholic Church’s charity for seafarers and fishers. Its name, “Star of the Sea,” is one of the oldest titles given to Our Lady, the guide and protector of those who travel the waters.
What they do
Almost everything in our homes has, at some point, crossed an ocean on a ship crewed by people we never see, often far from family for many months. Stella Maris cares for these seafarers and fishers in ports around the world through its chaplains and ship visitors, who bring a friendly welcome, practical help, and the comfort of the sacraments to those who are lonely, exploited, or in distress.
How our parish supports them
Each July, on Sea Sunday, our parish remembers seafarers and the work of Stella Maris, giving thanks for those whose hidden labour serves us all.

Give to the Sea Sunday collection, and pray for seafarers and fishers, and for the chaplains who care for them far from home.
