Who they are
Mary’s Meals is a charity with a beautifully simple idea, named after Mary the Mother of Jesus, who herself raised her child in poverty. It began in 2002 from a single shed in Scotland and now reaches millions of children every day.
What they do
Mary’s Meals provides one good meal each school day to some of the world’s poorest children, served in their place of education. The meal draws hungry children into the classroom, where they can gain an education that may one day lift them out of poverty for good. Wherever possible the food is prepared by local volunteers, so that whole communities share in the work.
How our parish supports them
Our parishioners support the work of Mary’s Meals through donations and its appeals, helping to fill a hungry child’s bowl and open the door of the classroom.
How you can help
Give to Mary’s Meals (a remarkably small sum feeds a child for a whole school year), support its special appeals, and pray for the children it serves.
