Who they are
The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) is an international Catholic charity founded in Paris in 1833 by Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, a young university student who believed faith must show itself in deeds. Its members, often called Vincentians, are ordinary people who quietly turn their concern for others into practical action.
What they do
The SVP seeks out and helps anyone in need: visiting the lonely, the housebound and the elderly; befriending those who are isolated; and offering practical and financial support to families facing hardship. In winter its members hand out “Vinnie Packs” of warm essentials to people sleeping rough. Wherever there is need nearby, the SVP tries to be a neighbour.

The SVP’s work of friendship and practical mercy, reaching the lonely and those in need in our own community, is close to the heart of our parish.
How you can help
Pray for those who are lonely or in hardship, support the SVP’s appeals, and consider whether God might be calling you to give some of your time to this gentle, hands-on work.
